Organized by the Italian General Consulate in Chongqing, by the Liangjiang New Area in Chongqing and by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China, the Forum saw the participation of Chinese and Italian government and industrial representatives focused on transport and logistics, cars powered by new energy sources, energy savings and industrial design. César Mendoza, CEO of NITO, highlighted how the combination of the identities of the two countries and the excellence of the two respective industrial models can guarantee the success of a brand and its products. The Undersecretary for Italian Economic Development, Ivan Scalfarotto, stressed the important collaboration between the Chongqing automotive industry and Italian manufacturing. According to official figures, Chongqing and Italy exchanged trade worth $ 550 million in 2016, with exports from Italy to Chongqing at $ 170 million, showing a 20 percent year-on-year growth.
